The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever

I love chocolate chip cookies. Like, I really love chocolate chip cookies. And I tend to eat chocolate chip cookies whenever and wherever I can. I’ve had a lot of chocolate chip cookies in my day, and I still think these are hands down the best. This recipe has been making the rounds on the internet, and there’s a good reason. They’re chewy, rich, and just sweet enough. You really do need to use the bread flour, but the special ingredient is worth it. Make these for your next sweet tooth. Presenting Alton Brown’s “The Chewy:”

Ingredients

2 sticks unsalted butter
2 1/4 c bread flour
1 t kosher salt
1 t baking soda
1/4 c sugar
1 1/4 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 T milk
1 1/2 t vanilla extract
2 c semisweet chocolate chips

Melt the butter over low heat in a saucepan, or in 20 second bursts in the microwave. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda, and set aside.

Combine sugars in large bowl and cream with melted butter. Add the egg, yolk, milk, and vanilla, and cream until well-mixed. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until thoroughly combined. Add chocolate chips.

Chill the dough (unless you’re super impatient like me, but the texture will be different). Scoop cookies onto cookie sheet, and bake at 325°F for 20-25 minutes.
